Lastly, I hemmed the bottom to give the dress a gorgeous finish. Hemming a curve can be difficult so I first sewed a straight stitch at the bottom and then hemmed the fabric. To attach the cuffs to my sleeves I first did a simple basting stitch around the sleeve.

Sew all the way around with a zigzag (photo below from the play-all-day-dress). Turn the dress inside out and mark where you want the elastic to go with masking tape. I placed the elastic right at my daughter’s natural waist, which is a few inches above her belly button.

You can even wear tights underneath your midi to make it practical on even the coldest days. Women began to wear a wide variety of dresses, including the mini, midi, and maxi style dresses.
